Peter was 'Mr Algar' to me. He was one of my teachers during my time at Lanfranc in the later part of the 70's. Apart from his great teaching, my two biggest memories of him riding his bicycle up the school drive every morning - riding in from the train station if I remember correctly. Plus a fantastic memory of him putting on a bit of a one man show on stage during one of the school concert nights. I remember him doing a bit of a singing comedy singing act, whilst playing the banjo with his foot resting on an old stool, the stool of course gave way and his foot went straight through. Part of the act i am sure, but the way he done it had the entire assembly in fits of laughter. So it was no surprise to me, when decades later i found out he was doing a fair old amount of acting. A very talented man indeed. Thanks for the smiles you gave us at Lanfranc, Mr Algar, may you rest in peace good Sir.

We have so many happy memories of our mutual association with the L.A.D.S over many years performing in plays and enjoying theatre visits. You will be sadly missed.

Happy the man, and happy he alone;
He who can call today his own:
He who, secure within, can say,
Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have lived today.
Be foul or fair, or rain or shine,
The joys I have possessed, in spite of fate, are mine.
Not heaven itself upon the past has power,
But what has been, has been, and I have had my hour.
